OUR HISTORY
Below is our Company Timeline. Now in our 3rd Generation, each family member has developed the business to suit the needs of customers.

1959

Bill spots a gap in the market and begins to offer Solid Fuel Central Heating Systems to customers

1969

Natural Gas Central Heating starts to become more popular. Bill and Neil get busy installing Gas Fired Back Boilers at the rate of 1 per week.

1985

Neil lands a number of Council run contracts to complete incoming water mains upgrades from lead to plastic pipework. 

1995

Neil & Lorraines son, Paul, joins the business as an apprentice

2004

Paul leaves the business to learn more about the industry in larger corporate settings

2017

2021

After 37 years the business telephone number is changed. Neil considers semi-retirement. Like that's going to happen!

Our growth continues and we take on our 2nd Full Time employee. Economic changes in UK start to promote the significant benefit of Heat Pumps

Foundation of the business. Trading as W. Compson, Bill (William) and his wife Eve (Evelyn) Compson set to work providing plumbing services for local people in the Wombourne area of South Staffordshire.

1964

Bill and Eve's son, Neil Compson, joins the business as a 16 year old apprentice.

1974

Founders Bill and Eve retire and Neil takes over changing the trading name to N. D. Compson Plumbing and Heating.

1990

Gas Fired Combination boilers start to become popular. Neil focuses the business in this direction.

2001

The business incorporates and becomes Compsons Limited.

2008

Paul rejoins the business. We re-brand and become registered with the Microgeneration Certificated Scheme (MCS) making us certified installers for Renewable Heating Technologies.

We become Trustmark registered and assist the government programme for Green Homes Grant. Our first employee joins us from outside of the Family. The first in 17 years!
